Surco
Interdisciplinary performance
and installation

A furrow, a wrinkle, a mark… all encompassed in the Spanish term “SURCO”.
SURCO explores how landscapes and experiences form by looking back on human, economic, and ecological processes that occur inseparably on bodies and the Earth. The interdisciplinary installation and performance under the Artistic direction of Beatriz Silva and the performance and production of LARAS Collective & Team, challenge notions of reshaping territories, through the history of copper extractions in northern Chile and the idea of relocation of matter. Further, SURCO considers the transformative processes of relocation of matter which are constantly experienced, on various levels as a political and personal issue. The collective combines sound, media and contemporary dance, asking themselves, what territory is? how a territory moves, sounds and looks?
