Beatriz Silva Aranda, Chilean dancer, choreographer & dance educator. She has been residing between Berlin and Chile since 2018. She earned her B.A. in Dance from the University of Chile in 2017. Over recent years, Beatriz has expanded her practice through interdisciplinary projects, enriching her approach to movement, performance, installation, social projects, etc. She studied the course of Introduction to Feminist Theories at the Open University of the University of Chile in 2019, the Artist Training program at the University of the Arts in Berlin in 2020, and the Intensive FOCAR program in Architecture and Choreography by the Instavel Cia., Porto 2024
Her artistic practice focuses on the interconnections and interrelations between territories, bodies, and materiality, exploring their political and poetic interactions through an interdisciplinary practice. Beatriz consistently adopts a feminist and decolonizing stance, aiming to challenge conventional narratives through her works, and often inviting audience participation to enhance the experience.
Beatriz’s diverse work includes notable pieces such as “Group 31: Communication Experiments”, “Cartografía Nº1”, “MASSA”, “Marea”, “In Code”, “Nosotrxs”, “CONFLUX”, “Memorie, Distances and Routes”, and the long-format installation & Performance “SURCO.” These works have been showcased across various platforms in Berlin, Potsdam, Portugal, and Chile, including festivals like Casa da Arquitetura, Santiago a la Gorra, Let Me In, Step in, Linha de Fuga, Festival Wo kommen wir hin, as well as at renowned venues such as Instituto Ernst Busch, SOMA Art Space Berlin, Monopol, among others.
As an educator, she has facilitated workshops on contemporary dance, improvisation, and composition methodologies since 2018, working with both professionals and aspiring dancers. She is an active part and collaborator of the berlin based association AQUITheater, where she work as a choreographer, dancer and dance teacher in projects with FLINTA* and MINTA* kids and tennagers, with partners as, Oyoun Neue Denken, Ich bin wichtig, Boxgirls, Clubhaus Phase II, and other initiatives supported by the Federal Department of Germany.
